The addition, clad in patterned copper panels, adds a study on the ground level and extends the master suite above. New windows throughout, locally fabricated from fir, visually tie the original house to the addition and connect the whole house to its Northwest setting.4
The master bath features mirrors that float above the sinks and an intricate cedar ceiling. It was dubbed “Jim’s ceiling” for the Schultz Miller carpenter who dedicated himself to working out the geometry of the angled ribs and realizing the architect’s intent. The stair hall features laser-cut metal railings and a dramatic suspended light fixture, both designed by Finne.
