With this thorough interior and exterior remodel, a 1950’s Pacific Northwest mid-century modern house in Lake Forest Park has been reborn as a luminous pavilion in tune with its woodland site, the perfect home for two avid gardeners and lovers of the outdoors.
We worked closely with architect Nils Finne to create a Northwest home with a quiet yet powerful presence in the landscape and to bring to life Finne’s signature concept of “Crafted Modernism.” The exterior of the house was re-clad with narrow strips of clear cedar, and light monitors were added to the roof, supplying much-needed natural light.

Inside, the house features clear fir and hemlock, custom cherry cabinetry, and a sculptural wall of steel tiles and grass laminated panels. Throughout construction, we made a special effort to preserve specimen trees and plants immediately surrounding the house.
