A contemporary kitchen addition to this established home in Windermere injects the house with a fresh, open feel and establishes a stronger connection between the house, the backyard, and the waterfront.
Inside, the kitchen and refurbished dining room were surfaced with a top-nailed oak floor to match the existing floors. Outside, dark-stained vertical boards introduced on the addition were added to an existing curved bay that anchors the waterfront façade.
The kitchen is comfortable and functional, with rift-sawn white oak cabinets and stainless-steel countertops. It extends through floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors onto a covered terrace with an outdoor fireplace.
Beyond the kitchen addition, the project involved all areas of the house, a reconfigured front drive, and extensive landscaping from the house to the waterfront.
