Working closely with designer Christian Grevstad, we remodeled an expansive, ground floor condo for art lovers who wanted a unit that was both an art gallery and a place to live in.
The interior features clean, modern lines and tactile surfaces and materials: textured, board formed concrete; bleached walnut paneling and cabinetry; polished concrete floors; walls of hand-textured Venetian plaster; and doors, panels, and fixtures of blackened or flame spray steel.
The calm spaces form a backdrop for selected pieces of art as well as furnishings custom designed by Christian Grevstad, including tables with sculptural bases and a long, softly glowing chandelier of chain mail above a dining table of Christian’s design.
The clean look of the interior belies the painstaking work of our crew and subcontractors and the exacting, often unseen details that went into the project. Our team worked closely with Christian on no-hold door handles, Harmon door hinges that all but disappear, and lighting fixtures precisely tuned to specific art pieces.
The main spaces facing west toward Lake Washington are flooded with natural light that streams in through the newly installed window wall, with pink summer sunsets dancing on the ceiling and reflections of water undulating on the floor and walls.
Beyond the window wall is a new waterfront patio of pools and concrete pads that work together to bring the qualities of the lake to the condo while extending the qualities of the condo out to the lake.
