A casual look at this classic house and English garden might reveal nothing new … and that’s the point. Yet our tune-up involved repainting the front entry, installing copper downspouts and exterior lighting, placing sandstone caps on the parapet walls, and more. The signature update is a brick garden wall and wooden gate, inspired by the 1949 film “The Secret Garden.” The film is black-and-white, except for scenes within the walled garden, which are in Technicolor. What’s new is old, what’s old is new again.
